16-19 Tuition Fund
16-19 Tuition Fund Statement
The 16-19 tuition fund is a funding allocation introduced in 2021-22 to mitigate the disruption to learning for sixth form students aged 16 – 19 as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
At Harris Academy South Norwood, the funding is being used to support small group tuition in subjects where learning has been negatively impacted. This includes subjects such as GCSE English and Maths along with Level 3 Qualifications such as A Levels and Vocational courses.
Students prioritised for this tuition will be those who have not achieved a grade 5 in English or Maths, students from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Tuition will be in addition to their normal timetabled programme of study.
Tuition and additional support may be delivered online and/or onsite from our current staff body, external tutors and through additional external recruitment to ensure subject specialists are used where possible.
Tuition support offered will be based on individual needs using both formative and summative assessment methods.
Examples of some of the tuition support on offer will include:
- GCSE exam re-sit preparation
- Knowledge catch-up sessions for both A Level and Vocational course
- Providing students with revision guides and other resources such as past exam papers
