Holocaust Memorial Day at Harris South Norwood
Holocaust Memorial Day at Harris South Norwood:
Over the past week, students across the Academy have been commemorating the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz Birkenau. On Friday Year 9 students heard the testimony of Susan Pollack, one of just a handful of Holocaust survivors still alive today. The students displayed a great degree of maturity in listening to the harrowing account of Pollack’s experience of both Auschwitz and Belsen concentration camps where she was held captive by the Nazis. Over the rest of the week, students from other years have had assemblies on the importance of marking Holocaust Memorial Day and what we can do as community to guard against such atrocities recurring in the future.
