Science & Numeracy Poster competition

The maths in science numeracy competition

This competition was a great learning opportunity for the KS3 students during the lockdown period, it allowed them to be beware that maths and science are intertwined. The students chose one of the following numeracy skill to focus on Percentage, Area of a triangle and rectangle, Decimal, Bar Charts, Ratio, Arithmetic means, fractions. These skills were selected based on the GCSE science numeracy requirement.

To get the students stimulated in the competition the teachers from the science department created videos clips in the form of animation which gave the necessary information about the poster competition.

Additionally, the students were also given web-links to videos on each numeracy skill to assist them in selecting appropriate content for the poster. The outcome was phenomenal as a vast amount of

students participated and submitted incredible posters which will be displayed around the school in September. At the end of the competition all participants were awarded a certificate of participation and

sectional winners are to collect tokens.

Well done to all the participants.
